Progress continues! All the interior wall weld plates are welded in place and the columns are up. The southern exterior weld plates are being welded this afternoon. Tomorrow they will start erecting the Roof joists. During Holy Week we pray for all those involved in the pouring of the cement for the walls of our new parish offices and school. These walls will be tilted up during Easter Week. It is such an exciting time for the community to see structures rising before our eyes. Take some time to stop outside the construction area and peer through the chain link fence as our future takes shape before us.
Related to these labors for our future, the Naming Committee is currently in the process of connecting with donors about the naming of specific rooms, offices, classrooms, and halls. This process will conclude the first week of June. If you have been interested in offering a significant donation to the Capital Campaign, and have not yet; please feel free to contact Fr. Dave or the campaign administrator, Sue Kneer at 916-482-9666. This is an ideal time to remember family members, both living and deceased. Last, in May you will be hearing about the “Brick Campaign”. Stay tuned for more information on how to purchase a memorial brick or paver that will mark our pathways here at St. Ignatius. Thank you to everyone who has contributed to making our parish dreams a reality. Tomorrow morning Raney Geotechnical will do an inspection followed by the County of Sacramento of the structural steel for our roof system. If approved we will be allowed to pour the concrete for the main building walls. You will notice on the photographs below that certain rebar is sticking up towards the sky and is shaped like a candy cane. When the wall is tilted up the rebar candy canes will be at the bottom of the wall facing the existing concrete floor. The rebar that extends from the existing floor will be joined by the rebar from the walls. At a future date concrete will be poured along the strip area between the new wall and the existing floor. Weather permitting the contractor will pour the wall concrete on Friday and Saturday. If all goes well and the concrete testing is approved the walls will be poured during St Ignatius School's Easter vacation. |
